A successful year of commercial art exhibitions at Inverness Airport is being marked with a new display to run through the winter.
The region’s gateway airport teamed up with Bridge of Allan based Ealain Gallery a year ago to show works by contemporary Scottish artists in a programme of exhibitions in the terminal building.
More than 700,000 passengers who have used the airport in the past year have had the opportunity to view and buy works of art in seven exhibitions organised by the gallery.
The latest exhibition in the series, which will run from 25th October until mid-January, celebrates the first year of the successful collaboration with a display of affordable pieces by six artists. The works by Angus MacDonald, Jacqueline Morrison, Margaret Emonds, Sharon Mitchell, J P Mclaughlin and Michelle Duffy take the Scottish countryside and its changing aspects as their theme.
Callum Smith, Inverness Airport terminal manager, said: “We are delighted that the partnership with the Ealain Gallery has proved to be such a success. The opportunity for passengers and other terminal users to see a changing array of contemporary Scottish art has been well received and fits with our role as the air gateway to the Highlands.
“With the year of Homecoming in 2009 this ongoing partnership with the gallery is a great way of providing visitors to the region with a taste of the vibrant artistic scene in Scotland.”
June McCann of the Ealain Gallery said: "The feedback on the exhibitions has been very positive over the past year with many people deciding to secure works of art for themselves. The latest exhibition features a wide range of works by six talented artists, all with their own perspective on the Scottish countryside.
“The opportunity to showcase art outside traditional gallery settings is one that we are keen to continue developing in partnership with the airport.”
The new exhibition can be viewed in the terminal building or online at the www.ealaingallery.com website.
