The HR section of the website provides general information for potential employees to aid HIAL in developing its position as an employer of choice within the Highlands and Islands.

HIAL operates 10 airports in the Highlands and Islands of Scotland on behalf of the Scottish Government at Barra, Benbecula, Campbeltown, Inverness, Islay, Kirkwall, Stornoway, Sumburgh, Tiree and Wick. HIAL is also responsible for developing new air services at these airports and supporting economic development and social inclusion in the region. HIAL also operates Dundee Airport in Tayside trhrough a wholly owned subsidiary company, Dundee Airport Limited.

The safe and efficient operation of the airports requires the company to employ people in a wide range of disciplines, ranging from front line operational staff to support roles based at HIAL’s head office at Inverness airport.

The working environment within HIAL is stimulating and offers a wide variety of employment opportunities both in operational and support roles.

Operational positions may be available within the following Departments:

• Motor Transport Engineering

These Departments deliver a range of services at varying levels at the 11 airports and each has local administrative support.

Human Resources Department

The Human Resources team plays a pivotal role in providing a service which encompasses: employee resourcing, employee relations, reward management and training and development for over 300 employees at 12 business locations. The HR team strives to work with managers and staff to:

• manage our own performance and that of our staff to deliver the company’s aims and business objectives;
• build an organization which responds to change, focuses on customer needs and makes things happen;
• encourage improved performance by providing appropriate pay and benefits which will attract, retain and motivate high quality staff;
• provide systematic training and development to meet service requirements, business objectives and individual needs;
• provide an employee relations environment which is constructive, responsive, involving and based on mutual trust;
• build a high quality flexible workforce to achieve service and business objectives reflecting the diversity of the Highlands and Islands.
