Work to modernise and expand the facilities at Barra Airport was carried out during 2022 and 2023.
This was carried out over three phases, in order to minimise the impact on passengers, and involved:
· the appliance bay being converted into a Cafe and seating area
· the construction of a new terrace on the beach side of the terminal
· the refurbishment of internal fixtures and fittings
· landscaping to include paving and decking in the surrounding area to improve accessibility.
Plans for an official opening of the terminal building are underway for summer 2024.
